VOLKSWAGEN, AUDI AND SKODA

AUSTRALIAN CLASS ACTIONS

Late Registration

The Federal Court of Australia has approved the settlement of the Australian class actions against Volkswagen, Audi and Skoda over the diesel emissions issue, which was negotiated by Maurice Blackburn and Bannister Law on behalf of eligible Australian motorists.

Due to technical problems with the distribution of the settlement notice to you in December 2019, you have been given an opportunity to register a claim for a settlement payment despite the fact that the registration deadline for most other motorists passed at the end of March 2020. If you wish to register a claim, you may do so by 28 October 2020. Please enter the VIN for your vehicle that is recorded on the email or letter you have received from Volkswagen Group Australia below.

If you have multiple vehicles affected by the diesel emissions issue, you will be able to add them to your claim later.

Please note that, if you fail to register and complete your claim by 28 October 2020, you will not be entitled to receive any settlement payment.

VIN (Vehicle Identification Number)

The VIN is a unique code made up of 17 letters and numbers, which identifies your vehicle. Please ensure that you correctly enter the VIN, including checking that:

  • The number “0” is not mistyped as the letter “O” (or vice versa)
  • The number “1” is not mistyped as the letter “l” (or vice versa)
  • The number “2” is not mistyped as the letter “Z” (or vice versa)
  • Any sequence of the letters “W” and “V” (for example “WVW”) is typed correctly

The VIN for your vehicle is recorded on the email or letter you have received from Volkswagen Group Australia. You can also usually find the VIN on a plate or sticker under the bonnet, near the engine bay, or inside the passenger side door on the “B” pillar of your vehicle. It may also be recorded in the certificates of registration, insurance papers, service log book, or other documentation for your vehicle.
